3,000 Christians On the Run, At Least 13 Killed
Unlike most violent uprisings against Christians (like this one still happening in India), the national press has recently run stories about Mosul, Iraq, where thousands of Christians are on the run because of violence, killings and threats. Muslim extremeists have ordered Christians to convert to Islam or face possible death. As a result, at least 900 families have fled the city. (Read the full story on FoxNews or CNN.)
These brothers and sisters in Christ need our prayers. This is a huge chance to talk with your youth about the church around the world and the suffering that many believers go through for their faith. Share these stories with your students this week and spend time praying with them for Iraqi believers. Pray that they would find strength in the Lord during these challenging times, that they would forgive those that persecute them, and that even in the midst of attacks of all kinds, that they would be a shining example of the love of Christ, freely sharing the Gospel with their neighbors and enemies.
Update: The uprisings against Christians in India did finally catch the press with this story in the International Herald Tribune.
