What Is Worship?

899184_sunset_joyEver feel like you just “can’t worship”?

I’ve met with a lot of youth leaders and Christian leaders that sometimes feel like they just can’t get into worshipping God.

Usually, the reason has to do with what’s going on in their life, or in particular, what they’re doing or aren’t doing.

They’ll tell me something like, “I’m having a hard time worshipping God right now because of this issue in my life,” and the issue usually boils down to a habitual sin they are trying to get rid of, or something else they feel they should be doing to be a good Christian.

Have you ever felt that way? I know I have. But looking back, I think it’s ridiculous!

At those times, we have forgotten what worship is. Worship is not recalling that we are worthy to praise God. Worship is praising God because He is worthy to be praised!!!

Have we forgotten the love story Jesus lived, the ultimate story of unconditional love? Sadly, in the well intentioned pursuit of santification, we can quickly forget about the grace that saved us.

I love thee, O Jehovah, my strength. Jehovah is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; I will call upon Jehovah, who is worthy to be praised. Psalm 18:1-3
