I’m taking an informal survey to help with some youth ministry resources my team is developing.

Do you have a youth group meeting every week? Why?

What’s your reasoning behind holding a youth group meeting every week? Does your church expect it? Is it part of your plan to take over the world? Do your students just love the games? Is it the most effective tool you’ve found in reaching students? Is it just because everybody else is doing it? Or are there other reasons?

You probably remember the “youth pastor top needs” survey we conducted on this blog not too long ago.

The responses were insightful, and sometimes frankly scary. They unearthed a trend we all probably suspected: Youth pastors are desperate for support! From their church, the senior pastor, parents, other adults, anyone. They feel they’re expected to do everything for youth, on their own.

We are hoping that these findings will spur churches to give youth pastors the support they’re so desperate for. Some of the quotes and stories youth pastors shared with us were shocking and even convicting.

We’re wrapping it up now, and the study will first be released to the Called to Youth Ministry Facebook group. If you haven’t joined already, be sure to join now!

Afterwards it will also be made available on this blog and to the general public.
