I appreciate some things the “Emergent Church” movement has to offer, such as a strong focus on social justice. But there are many things in the movement that worry me greatly, such as the deconstruction of absolute truth, and little emphasis on the forgiveness of Christ.

This just in: A teen in New York City feel down an open manhole while texting. (full story, video)

Reports indicate that workers had stepped away from the manhole for “just seconds” to retrieve orange cones from their truck. In an instant, Alexa Longueira went from walking along the sidewalk to five feet underground!

She suffered minor cuts and bruises but will be just fine. The family is thinking about filing a lawsuit.

Let this be a warning to us all: Beware your surroundings when texting!

This was too good to pass up…

I’m preaching at a church in southern Wisconsin this Sunday and have been spending a lot of time preparing. All I know is that it’s a medium sized congregation of mostly middle aged and eldery adults.

I will be speaking on this generation, youth culture, and Jesus’ exemplary life of sacrifice. The goal is to give them practical steps to take home and apply to get involved in the lives of the youth in their community. I’ll let you know how it goes. Please pray for God’s direction and favor!
